Advent
---> December 18th, 2009 by annie
Something new is coming for 2010 and it makes me feel like blogging (either that or watching “Julie&Julia” last night . . . ). This has been an intense advent for me. The darkness of life without redemption has been palpable around me. The Lord has grown an intense thirst in my soul for his coming, for the pressence of Emmanuel to come and be with me in a new and deeper way. The following L’Engle poem that my pastor sent out in our Advent newsletter expresses the focus of that desire perfectly, for incarnate love to “burn bright and wild”. If there is one thing that I have learned in the first decade of this millenia, it is this; character is the only freedom and love is the only present incarnation of eternal life.
This is the irrational season
When love burns bright and wild.
If Mary’d been filled with reason
There’d been no room for the child
